Xilo-Nuevo is a mixed team, Petra from Slovaquia, Yacobos from Greece, Ainhoa from Spain, Jule from Germany, Myriam from France. The team is made up of disabled and non-disabled participants.
Our common point: we all live in Athens (Greece) and set up a creative workshop of furniture restoration in Glyfada.
This project has been funded with support from the European Commission through a Youth initiative of the Youth in Action Programme : www.neagenia.gr
We want to involve the participation of other youngsters with intellectual and/or physical disability from the local community . This project aims to enable them to learn and to develop their skills through a creative activity. It also pretends to appreciate the participants through their work showing what their abilities and capacities are.
Nowadays we realize about the importance of sustainable development. The recuperation of old furniture already became a real fashion in some other European countries. We can repair, give a new look, restore, customize an old furniture. The wood, sustainable and esthetic, is a perfect support to express your creativity.
We don’t create any series, every object is unique.
Some knowledge about "do-it-yourself" ,some good tools and a bit of imagination are enough to give a second life to an old furniture.
